Yanco Versailles Collection

Versailles is white Yanco china on a magnesia body, fully glazed, and it is the most complete of the 30-piece patterns stocked here — six flat round plates, four platters, a dozen bowls and five separate beverage pieces. Nothing in the line is a specialty shape for its own sake; it is a hotel and banquet service that can cover breakfast, lunch and dinner from one stock number block.

Three cup formats, and two siblings on the same moulds

No other china pattern on this store carries an after-dinner cup, a stackable cup and a mug at once. That is what makes Versailles worth quoting for a hotel: the espresso program, the banquet coffee urn service and the room-service tray all come out of one pattern, so the saucers match without cross-ordering.

The bowls and the two dessert plates are shared castings. Cambria lists the same 9" x 1 7/8" salad/pasta bowl, the same 8 1/2" x 3 1/2" ramen bowl and the same teardrop dessert plate, but on an alumina body and with a leaf-shaped serving block Versailles does not have. Cowboy lists the same shapes again in gray with a basket-weave texture, and drops the cup and saucer entirely. If your kitchen has settled on these shapes, the choice between the three is body, finish and which serving pieces come with them.
