The soup plate is a rimmed, shallow bowl on a plate footprint, and at nine and a half inches with a two-inch well it holds ten ounces of an opening soup course without the depth of a true bowl.

That shape is the point: a wide surface shows off a garnish, a swirl of cream or a scatter of croutons, and the broad rim stays dry for the server's thumb. It fits a standard plate shelf and takes an under-liner at the same diameter as the pattern's rounds. Bone white chinaware with a magnesia body, fully glazed, a dozen in each case.
