The lotus plate is what people come to Orchis for. Five of the 32 melamine pieces in this line are lotus-shaped — scalloped petal rims at 6", 7 1/4", 10 1/2", 12" and 16" — and the rest of the pattern is built to sit with them. Where a color is given on the listing it is gold, and no other finish appears. The assortment leans Asian service: rice bowls, divided sauce dishes, tea cups and a soup spoon rather than dinner plates.
What's in the Orchis line
- Lotus-shape plates at 6", 7 1/4", 10 1/2", 12" and 16"
- Round plates at 7 1/2", 8 1/4", 9 3/4" and 12"
- Rectangular plates at 6" x 4 1/2" and 8" x 5 1/2", plus ripple-edge rectangles at 11", 13" x 9" and 16" x 10 1/2"
- Bowls at 6 1/4" (16 oz), 7 1/4" (24 oz), 8 1/2" (42 oz) and 9 1/2" (62 oz)
- Rice bowls at 4 1/4" (8 oz), 4 3/4" (10 oz) and 5" (14 oz), plus a 4 3/4" square bowl and a 4" side dish
- Sauce service: a 3" saucer, a 4 1/8" dish, a 4" square dish, a 3 3/4" x 2 1/2" rectangular dish, a two-section divided dish at 2 oz per well, and a 7 1/2" triple-divided dish
- Two tea cups at 2 1/2" and 3", and a 5 1/2" soup spoon
Orchis and Honda are the same mold set
Compare part numbers and 23 of the 25 items in Honda reappear in Orchis at the identical number and identical dimensions — OR-5707 and HO-5707 are both a 7 1/4" 24 oz soup bowl. Orchis adds nine pieces Honda lacks, including all five lotus plates and the 16 oz soup bowl; Honda adds two coupe plates. In practice you standardize on one set of shapes and pick the finish, and a replacement from either line drops into the same rack slot.
