Yanco Milando Collection

Milando is white melamine in five geometries — round, oval, square, triangle and a sloped-wall bowl Yanco calls sheer. Thirty-four items, and the span is the point: the smallest piece holds 3.5 oz, the largest holds 3.5 quarts, a range of roughly thirty to one within a single pattern. A kitchen can plate a sauce, an entree and a buffet salad out of the same line without the white shifting.

Flat shapes

Rounds: 7", 9.5", 10.5", 11.5" and 13.5".

Ovals: 10" x 7.25", 12" x 8.75", 14" x 10", 16" x 11.5" and 18" x 13".

Squares: 7.5", 9.5" and 11.5". Triangles, which few melamine lines offer at all, come as MD-608 (8"), MD-610 (10") and MD-612 (12").

Two square-bowl series that look alike on paper

Milando lists square bowls under two model families whose sizes nearly collide, and the capacities do not track the footprints in the way you would expect. At 7" the MD-337 holds 30 oz while the MD-707 holds 32 oz; at 8" the MD-338 holds 45 oz against the MD-708 at 42 oz. Pick one series and stay in it, or the stack heights on your shelf will not agree. The rest of the square family runs MD-705 (16 oz, 5"), MD-709 (60 oz, 9"), MD-813 (110 oz, 13") and MD-816 (160 oz, 16").

Round bowls and bulk service

The sheer bowls have a shallow sloped wall: MD-304 (3.5 oz, 4"), MD-308 (16 oz, 8"), MD-309 (24 oz, 9.25") and MD-310 (36 oz, 10"). Two deeper serving bowls, MD-306 (26 oz) and MD-307 (40 oz), handle sides and chowders.

For the buffet line there are four oblong bowls: MD-912 (68 oz, 12" x 10"), MD-914 (120 oz, 14" x 11.75"), MD-916 (2.5 qt, 16" x 13") and MD-918 (3.5 qt, 18" x 14.5"). Only the largest ships six to a case; the rest are twelve.
