Yanco Sesame Collection

Sesame is a tan melamine service with a darker brown band around the rim — the per-item copy on this store describes it as brown banded rims, and the color field on every piece reads Tan. Nineteen items cover a straightforward table: four plates, seven platters, six bowls and two mugs. The band does the work visually, which means the pattern reads as decorated from across the room but leaves the well of the plate clean for food.

The 19 items

Plates step up in four sizes — SS-106 (6.25"), SS-107 (7.25"), SS-109 (9") and SS-110 (10").

Oval service is the deepest part of the line. Flat platters come as SS-209 (9.5" x 7.25"), SS-211 (11.5" x 8"), SS-212 (12" x 9"), SS-214 (14" x 10") and SS-216 (16" x 12"). Two of those footprints are also made with a raised wall: SS-221 adds 0.75" of depth at 11.5" x 8", and SS-222 adds a full inch at 12" x 9".

Bowls run from the SS-305 fruit bowl (3.5 oz) and SS-302 bouillon cup (8 oz) through the SS-306 (10 oz), SS-314 nappie (11 oz) and SS-307 (14 oz) up to the SS-507 rim soup bowl at 32 oz on a 7.5" rim.

The mug that does not match the code

Eighteen items carry an SS- model number. The nineteenth does not: the NC-9014C soup mug is a 12 oz, 2.75" x 4" mug catalogued under a different Yanco prefix and described as chocolate rather than tan. It is the only piece in Sesame with a 12 oz capacity and the only one whose color word differs from the rest of the set, so check it against the banded pieces before ordering a full program. The everyday cup is the SS-908 two-tone coffee mug, 8 oz at 3.75" tall.

Sesame or Ardis

Yanco builds Ardis on the same eighteen molds. What separates them is the finish and the length of the set: Ardis is tan with scattered brown speckles across the body, Sesame puts a single brown band at the rim. Ardis also runs 22 items instead of 19, adding a tea cup, a dessert dish and a second soup mug size. If you need a cup and saucer pairing, Sesame does not have one — Ardis and Houston do.

Compare it with the speckled Ardis line or the green-on-white Pine Tree line, both built on the same tooling, and see the full Yanco range for the rest of the catalog. Questions on case packs or a finish sample go to sales@nishienterprise.com or (732) 790-0199.
