Seven and a quarter inches is the salad plate measurement: a dressed green salad, a half sandwich with a pickle, a wedge of pie, or the appetiser that lands before the entree round arrives. The SS-107 salad plate takes any of those with room left at the edge.

Older Yanco paperwork listed this round as a dinner plate. At seven and a quarter inches it is not one, and Sesame's dinner plates are the nine inch and the ten inch rounds, with this piece sitting between them and the bread and butter plate. Four dozen in a case covers a garde manger through a lunch seating with enough held back to send dessert out on the same plate later on.
