Yanco Peacock Collection

The Yanco Peacock Collection is a 27-piece color-glazed china line in gray. It is not a white pattern with a gray band — the glaze runs across the whole piece, so a Peacock plate reads as a mid-tone neutral against the food rather than a bright background. That matters on a menu with a lot of pale plating: rice, cream sauces, white fish and tofu all gain an edge on gray that they lose on white.

Where most gray china programs run one plate shape in four diameters, Peacock carries three distinct plate geometries plus a rectangular sushi run and a pair of footed dessert plates. That breadth is the reason to choose it, and it is also why the line rewards ordering deliberately rather than by diameter alone.

Coupe plates

Rimless and clean, the coupe run is the everyday plate of the collection: PK-107 (7.25") for bread and appetizers, PK-108 (8.25") for salad and lunch, PK-110 (10.5") for standard entrées and PK-112 (12.25") for larger mains.

Round plates with an upright rim

The PK-2xx series takes the same rounds and turns the edge up — PK-207 (7"), PK-210 (10") and PK-212 (12"). The upright wall is what you want under anything with liquid in it: braises, curries, a saucy pasta. Pair the upright rims with the coupes rather than choosing between them — coupe for dry plating, upright for wet.

Rectangular sushi plates

Four sizes, and they are not simply scaled copies of each other — the proportions change with the length, so each suits a different presentation. The PK-512 (12" x 7.5") is the widest and takes a full individual set. The PK-513 (13" x 5.25") and PK-514 (14" x 4") narrow sharply, which makes them right for a single line of nigiri or a tasting flight. The PK-515 (15.25" x 6") is the platter of the group.

Bowls, from 6 oz to 45 oz

The bowl range is the deepest part of the line. The PK-808 ramen bowl (45 oz, 8.5") anchors the top end; below it sit the PK-412 pasta bowl (25 oz, 12.5"), the PK-706 nappie (25 oz) and PK-705 nappie (15 oz), the PK-408 soup/salad bowl (20 oz), the PK-704 rice bowl (10 oz), the PK-504 soup cup (10 oz) and the small PK-804 soup bowl (6 oz). Two wide, shallow pieces are listed as plates but behave as bowls: the PK-411 soup/salad plate (20 oz, 11.5") and PK-410 (15 oz, 10.5").

Ovals, dessert stands and beverage

Two ovals handle shared and family-style service — PK-314 (14" x 9") and PK-316 (16" x 10"). The two footed dessert plates, PK-607 (7.5") and PK-609 (9"), come with the pedestal built into the piece rather than as a separate riser, so there is nothing to lose or mismatch in the wash. Beverage service is the PK-001 coffee cup (8 oz) and PK-002 saucer (5.75").

Operators cross-shopping Peacock are usually deciding how far from white they want to go.
