Yanco Noble Black

Noble Black is a 38-piece matte black ceramic pattern, and the detail that sets it apart from Yanco's other dark lines is that it carries round plates with two different rim treatments. The 3-series are coupe — no rim, the food surface runs to the edge. The 1-series are the same diameters with an upright rim that stands a few degrees proud and holds a sauce on the plate. Running both off one pattern lets a kitchen plate a dry course and a wet course in the same glaze without switching china.

Oven-to-table and the deep bowls

Two handled bake plates take a dish from the oven to the guest: the Yanco NB-910 (25 oz, 9.625") and the large Yanco NB-912 (70 oz, 13.5"), which at 70 oz is the highest-capacity piece in the pattern and ships six to a case rather than twelve. The Yanco NB-711 Deep Mediterranean Bowl (20 oz, 11.125" x 7") is the other unusual vessel here — an elongated deep bowl rather than a round one, sized for a shared mezze or a whole braised course.

The everyday bowl ladder is the deepest part of the range. Noodle service runs on the Yanco NB-810 (64 oz, 10.25" x 3.25") and Yanco NB-808 (32 oz); salads on the Yanco NB-807 (24 oz) and the wider, shallower Yanco NB-609 Salad/Pasta Bowl (28 oz) and Yanco NB-608 Salad/Soup Bowl (20 oz). Smaller portions use the NB-806 Nappie Bowl (14 oz), NB-805 Rice Bowl (10 oz), NB-804 Soup Bowl (9 oz) and NB-504 Soup Cup (10 oz), with the straight-sided NB-508 Round Bowl (35 oz) and NB-506 Round Bowl (16 oz) above them.

Two rims, four diameters

The coupe plates are the NB-307 (7"), NB-309 (9.125"), NB-310 (10.5") and NB-312 (12.25"). The upright-rim set answers with the NB-107 (7.5"), NB-108 (8"), NB-110 (10.25") and NB-112 (12.25"). At 12.25" the two versions are the same diameter, so a kitchen can swap between them mid-service and keep the cover looking consistent.

Ovals, rectangles and the small pieces

Oval plates run NB-208 (8" x 5.5"), NB-210 (10.5" x 7"), NB-212 (12.5" x 8.25") and NB-214 (14.5" x 9.5"). Rectangles run NB-510 (10.125"), NB-512 (12.25"), NB-513 (13.375"), NB-514 (14.25") and NB-515 (15.5") — note that NB-513 and NB-515 are the narrow ones at 4.75" and 5.5" wide, while NB-512 and NB-514 run 6.625" and 7.625" wide at similar lengths.

The walled NB-610 Dessert Plate (10 oz) and NB-611 Dessert Plate (16 oz) hold a sauced plate. Condiments use the NB-4030 (1 oz), NB-4031 Square Sauce Dish (3 oz), twin-well NB-4032 Double Sauce Dish and the elongated NB-803 Olive Bowl (2 oz). Beverage is a single item, the NB-012 Mug (12 oz) — there is no cup and saucer in this pattern.

Noble Black shares its body shapes with two color-glazed patterns elsewhere in the full Yanco range.
