Yanco SW-216 Sea Wave Chinaware 15-3/4" x 9-1/4" Rectangular Platter, Bone White — Case of 12 (1 dz)

At 15-3/4 by 9-1/4 inches this is the large-format rectangular platter in Sea Wave, carrying one hundred forty-six square inches on a one inch body.

It takes a whole side of salmon, a carving board's worth of sliced meat, or a buffet presentation refreshed in place without being lifted. Width is what separates it from the 15 inch runner: nine and a quarter inches across allows two parallel rows where the runner allows one. A full inch of thickness is what keeps the centre from flexing under a loaded span this wide. Twelve to a case, and the pieces weigh enough that two cases make a sensible handling limit for one person.
