The 5-1/2 inch square is the conventional bread and butter size, a full inch wider each way than the SW-105.

That extra width is the difference between a roll crowding the edge and a roll, a pat and a knife all lying flat with space between them. Height holds at 1/2 inch, so the plate packs tight in a dish caddy and clears the lip of a standard bussing tub. It doubles as an underliner for the SW-504 bowl or a four-ounce ramekin on a composed cover. Bone white chinaware keeps attention on the wave-formed rim, which catches overhead light along one edge while the well stays flat and unbroken.
