At 10-1/4 inches across with a 1 inch wall, this is the standard Sentry dinner plate. The upright edge contains a sauce or a braise instead of letting it run to the rim, and the gradient darkens toward that edge so the food sits inside a frame.

This diameter is the workhorse of American table service: an entree, a starch and a vegetable with room to plate them apart. Melamine survives the stack, the bus tub and the rack without the chip rate of china, which matters when a banquet room puts two hundred covers out in forty minutes.
