Fourteen inches by nine and three quarters makes this the table-centre oval platter of the Siena range, built for a carved leg, a roast bird brought to table intact, or a buffet station that needs topping up across a long sitting. Loaded, it is a two-handed carry and it wants a shelf of its own rather than a rack slot.

The wall stands an inch and an eighth, an eighth above the twelve inch oval, and that small step is what lets it hold a bed of rice or a shallow pool of braising liquor under the meat. Along the long axis there is room for a knife to work without the blade striking the rim, which is why carvers ask for this length. Twelve to a case.
