The larger of the two Siena salad plates at eight inches, giving about thirty percent more surface than the seven inch round while adding an eighth of an inch to the wall. That extra lift is what lets it carry a wetter dish: a warm starter with a pan sauce, a half portion of noodles, a wedge salad that has already been dressed.

Many operators run this diameter as a lunch plate, with a sandwich and a side on it, and then turn it round again as an under-plate beneath the SI-504 bouillon cup when a soup course goes out.
