Two and three-quarter inches of depth over eight inches of floor is a wide shallow proportion, which is what a baked course wants: a large browned surface and a short distance for heat to travel to the middle. A macaroni bake, scalloped potatoes, a berry crumble, a hot artichoke dip for a bar table all work in this bowl. Twelve in a case. The flutes are drawn into a vitrified body, glazed bright, cleared for oven and microwave and wash, with a rim thick enough to take a server's grip while it is still hot.
