Nine and a half inches by seven and a half, with a wall of one and a half and twenty ounces of working volume. A deep oval plate is a hybrid on purpose: the oval outline and the flat floor of a plate, with enough wall to contain a sauce. Use it for a braise, a curry over rice, or anything that would run off a flat oval.

The elongated shape means a portion can be laid out lengthwise with sauce held at one end, which a round of the same capacity cannot do. Of the three deep ovals in this series this is the one dimensioned for a single cover rather than for sharing.
