Seven ounces in a four-and-three-quarter-inch round, two inches deep. A rice bowl is drawn to be held, not just set down: the foot is narrow enough for fingers to curl under and the wall rises steeply so a thumb rests on the rim rather than in the rice. Seven ounces is one individual serving of steamed rice.

Compared with the miso bowl alongside it in this series, this one is wider at the mouth and a quarter inch shallower, which suits a grain rather than a liquid. The pebbled relief on the outside gives a grip when the bowl is warm. The interior stays smooth so starch rinses off without scrubbing. Chinaware body, dishwasher safe and microwave safe.
