Eight inches across, an inch and a half at the wall, twenty ounces to the brim. This is a soup plate in the hotelware sense: a wide flat floor with a sloping wall, so a broth spreads thin and cools to eating temperature quickly instead of staying scalding in the middle. The same geometry suits a dressed salad, which is why the trade name carries both words.

It is a plate, not a bowl, and the distinction is functional rather than cosmetic: the floor is flat and the wall low enough to eat from with a fork as readily as a spoon. The nine-inch pasta bowl in this series is the deeper alternative. Pebbled rim, smooth well. Chinaware body, dishwasher safe and microwave safe.
