Ten by six and three-quarters with a one-inch wall, this oval plate steps up from the eight-inch to the size that carries a full appetizer course or a dessert with a sauce pooled beside it. Two extra inches of length and an inch and a quarter of width give a plater room to work in a diagonal, which is the usual reason a kitchen keeps ovals alongside rounds.

The wall gains a quarter inch over the smaller oval, enough to contain a loose garnish without turning the piece into a dish. Rockeye's ten-by-seven rectangle occupies the same slot in that series, so the naming lines up across both. The brown edge follows the oval rather than being broken at the ends.
