That is deliberate: a compact base lets a server crowd more covers onto a tray without the rims knocking together, and the short wall keeps a refill within easy reach of a pot. The pebbled Rockeye-2 texture wraps the outer wall and the drinking rim is left smooth and glazed, so a guest's lip meets finished china rather than relief.

It nests on the RO-002 saucer, which carries the same white ground and brown edge.
