Yanco RM-114BK Rome Melamine 14" Square Platter, Black — Case of 12 (1 dz)

Fourteen inches of black square, walled to 1-3/4 inches. Buffet designers use the dark version as a base layer: pale food on a dark ground reads from across a room, which is the whole trick of a long service table.

The depth on this platter holds a wet preparation - a marinated salad, poached fruit, something in brine - where Rome's shallower squares would let it travel. It tiles with the twelve, ten and eight inch black pieces to build a stepped display, and it is where Rome's dark squares stop. Melamine construction survives a banquet rotation that chips ceramic. Twelve platters to the case.
