Twelve by nine inches puts the PT-212 oval platter in the middle of Pine Tree's serving run, with surface for a family style side, a cheese and fruit arrangement, or three plated portions carried out together.

It is two inches shorter and one inch narrower than the PT-214, which is the step up when a dish has to feed six rather than three. The banded rim matches the plates, so a table can mix round and oval shapes from the same pattern. Nine inches of width is about the practical limit for a two-handed carry through a service door.
