Twelve inches of unbroken coupe face, with a 1-1/4" wall and no rim shelf. Plain rounds in this pattern carry the plate name up to fourteen inches, so at twelve this is a service plate or a charger-weight main, broad enough for a composed dish with garnish set well in from the lip.

The coupe profile is what a kitchen plating in the round wants: the eye follows the glaze to the edge, so there is no painted band cutting the composition in half. A quarter inch deeper than the 10" coupe, it holds a loose grain or a braise with its juices. It nests flat in a stack, which matters when a station holds thirty of them.
