The shallower of Porto's two nine-inch soup plates, rising only 1-5/8 inches and holding nine ounces. Shallow suits a starter portion, a consomme, or a soup served as one course among several rather than as the meal itself; the liquid spreads wide and cools faster, which is what you want when it arrives straight off the stove.

The broad brown-banded rim doubles the apparent size of the dish on a laid table. Where a deeper well is wanted on the same footprint, the PR-408 adds three quarters of an inch of sidewall. Chinaware, dishwasher and microwave safe.
