This one is a hair wider and a quarter of an inch taller than the fruit bowl beside it in the range, and that extra height is what makes it a rice bowl: steeper walls, a tighter base, a shape a hand wraps around and that chopsticks work inside. Ten ounces is a generous individual serving of steamed rice, or a bowl of congee. Both bowls hold the same ten ounces; the rice bowl simply gets there with less width and more wall.
