The larger of the two dessert plates, close to a foot across and two and a half inches up at the edge, with sixteen ounces of capacity. At this size it stops being a dessert plate in the narrow sense and becomes a pasta or risotto plate — the wide, shallow, high-walled form a restaurant uses so that sauce pools at the centre instead of spreading thin. It also handles a shared sweet for two, or a cheese course with fruit.
