Yanco NS-515G Nessico Melamine 13-1/4" x 9-1/2" Oval Platter W/NARROW Rim, Green — Case of 12 (1 dz)

Only a quarter of an inch longer than the thirteen-inch oval but a full inch wider across the middle, and that changes what fits on it. The extra width is the difference between one row and two, so this is the platter for a composed arrangement: cheese with its accompaniments, a salad presented rather than tossed, a mixed grill set out in sections.

Green suits this shape better than it suits the small ovals, because at nine and a half inches across there is enough surface for the colour to register as a background instead of as trim. The narrow rim keeps that surface usable, with nothing given up to a decorative border.
