Eleven and a half inches by seven and a half is a serving platter in the sense that matters: it is meant to leave the kitchen with food for more than one person on it. A 3/4-inch rise around the edge keeps a sliced protein and its juices contained, and the rectangle gives a long line to arrange along rather than a circle to fill.

Tan is the working colour for this piece. Platters come back from the table with the marks of serving tongs and carving juices, and a warm body absorbs that visually in a way that white does not. In Nessico's rectangle run it sits between the 9-1/2 inch NS-209 and the 12-1/2 inch NS-212.
