Yanco NS-209W Nessico Melamine 9-1/2" x 6-3/4" Rectangular Plate, White — Case of 24 (2 dz)

This is the rectangular plate in Nessico's 2-series, and at 9-1/2 inches on the long edge it stays within plate territory rather than serving territory. The half-inch depth gives it a shallow lip and no well, so the whole 9-1/2 by 6-3/4 inch surface is usable - which is the point of a rectangle.

White makes the geometry do the work. A rectangular plate is already a design decision, and a neutral body lets the shape and the food read without a colour competing. In practice it goes out as a sandwich plate, a starter plate and a dessert plate in the same service, and it racks more densely than a round of comparable surface area.
