The NR-40 is Normandy's small oval, 7-1/8" long by 5-3/4" wide. Ovals this size are appetizer plates rather than servers: a 7-1/8" major axis sits well under the ten-inch line, and the piece is clearly sized for one diner. It takes a crab cake, a pair of deviled eggs, a wedge of toast, or a single pastry, and the oval field flatters anything longer than it is round.
