The NR-1 is Normandy's short cup, a squat 3-3/4" coffee bowl standing 2-1/2" tall and holding 7 oz to the brim. The low, broad shape puts the drinking edge close to the table, so a full cup travels on a tray without slopping, and the wide footprint resists being knocked over on a crowded two-top. Its narrow rim is the detail that sets the Normandy line apart from the wide-rim pieces it shares a mould family with.

Seven ounces is the standard American diner pour, leaving room for cream without a refill. The cup seats in the well of the NR-2 saucer, and a case of 36 covers three dozen settings or a full shift of turnover behind the pass.
