Yanco NC-512S Compartment Collection Melamine 9" 3-Compartment Plate with Deep Beveled Foot, Sand — Case of 24 (2 dz)

Portion standards drift upward unless something physical holds them, and a 9 inch three-well face is a limit that a serving line respects more reliably than a written spec ever does. That is the real argument for the smaller round in sand.

A resident on a reduced-calorie or renal diet gets a plate that looks properly full at the portion they are meant to receive, rather than a sparse island in the middle of a dinner plate. The bevelled foot underneath lifts the base and keeps a column from sliding, and sand hides the marks a thousand trips through a machine will leave. This compartment plate matches NC-512I in every published dimension.
