Yanco NA-505 Nature Art Melamine 4-1/2" x 2" Square Miso Soup Bowl 10 oz, White and Brown — Case of 48 (4 dz)

A square four and a half inches on a side, two inches deep, holding ten ounces — the standard miso portion served beside a rice bowl and a grilled main. The squared footprint is deliberate: four of these sit flush on a lacquer tray where four rounds would waste the corners, and the flat sides give a server somewhere to take hold of a hot bowl.

Pale miso and clear dashi show their suspended solids against a white well, so a cloudy broth looks deliberate rather than murky. Against the round NA-504 at the same capacity, this piece trades a quarter inch of depth for a wider surface, which means a faster pour and a shallower draw. The corners are where square melamine normally fails, and these are moulded thick for that reason.
