The NA-411 is a sushi plate: ten and seven eighths inches long, four and seven eighths wide and seven eighths of an inch tall. Sushi service has its own geometry — a nigiri run or a cut maki roll is long and narrow, and the plate follows it. Nearly eleven inches of length gives a six to eight piece order room to be set out in sequence rather than crowded.

Long, narrow, and a plate by function

Length is the one dimension that matters here. At under five inches wide the piece carries less surface than a nine-inch round, which is why it serves one diner rather than a table. The slight seven eighths rise around the edge keeps soy from running off and leaves room for a wasabi mound and a pile of pickled ginger at one end. White with brown accents.
