Twelve inches long, six wide and an inch and three quarters deep, the NA-312 is the larger of the two deep ovals in the pattern. An inch and a half more length and a quarter inch more depth than the NA-310 sounds marginal on paper; in service it is the difference between a garnish portion and a shared main. It holds a full portion of braised greens, a paella for two, or a long row of roasted root vegetables in their juices.

The deep oval at serving size

Depth and length together are what make this platter specific. Food with liquid in it can be mounded in the centre without sliding to the ends, and a serving spoon has a wall to work against. White with brown accents through the well and rim. A dozen to the case suits something bought for a station or a family-style menu section rather than for every cover.
