Yanco MR-409 Mars Chinaware 9-1/8" x 1-5/8" Soup Plate 9 oz, White and Blue — Case of 24 (2 dz)

Nine and an eighth inches across but only 1-5/8 inches tall, the MR-409 is the wide shallow soup plate — the shape that shows what is in it. Nine ounces fills it to a comfortable level without reaching the lip, which is how a bisque or a consomme is meant to arrive.

The broad flat area around the well gives a kitchen room to garnish at the edge and a server somewhere cool to hold. It is the shallowest of the Mars soup and salad shapes by a clear margin, and that flatness is the whole reason to specify it.
