Yanco LY-503BU Lyon-Blue Chinaware 3-1/4" x 4" Coffee Mug 10 oz, Blue — Case of 36 (3 dz)

A mug is a tall cylinder, and glaze on a cylinder runs straight down, so this coffee mug carries vertical movement in its finish: streaks where the blue travelled during firing, a heavier band low on the body, a lighter tone up at the shoulder. The outside is where the colour does its work, since the inside spends service full.

The lip is finished thin and the blue runs pale right at the drinking edge. On the handle, which is pulled and attached rather than moulded in, the glaze gathers in the inside angle and leaves the coffee mug a dark seam marking where the two parts join.
