Yanco LY-409BU Lyon-Blue Chinaware 9" x 6-1/4" x 2-3/8" Oval Salad Bowl 20 oz, Blue — Case of 12 (1 dz)

Depth changes how a reactive glaze presents itself. On this nine-inch salad bowl the wall climbs two and three-eighths inches, and over that distance the blue develops properly: saturated and a little mottled low down, breaking to a thin speckled pale tone at the lip. An empty one on a shelf shows the full range.

Loaded with grains or roasted vegetables, the salad bowl keeps that pale band visible above the food line, which stops the piece reading as a dark hole on a table. The interior is one continuous glazed curve with no step where the wall meets the floor.
