Yanco LY-309BU Lyon-Blue Chinaware 9" x 7-7/8" x 2-3/8" Oval Pasta Plate 20 oz, Blue — Case of 24 (2 dz)

The wall on this pasta plate turns outward near the top instead of standing straight, giving a shallow flared lip above a deep well. Glaze thins over that flare and fires almost pale there, while the well below holds a saturated blue. The result is a ring of light around a dark centre, and a portion dropped into the middle sits inside it.

Tomato and pale starch both separate cleanly from the blue; a cream sauce wants the darker floor underneath to look like anything at all. The flare doubles as somewhere to hold the pasta plate without a thumb landing in the food.
