Yanco LY-213BU Lyon-Blue Chinaware 13" x 7-3/8" x 1-1/2" Rectangular Platter, Blue — Case of 12 (1 dz)

Straight sides and square corners put four hard edges on this rectangular platter, and the glaze registers every one of them. Blue pulls away from the top of each edge and pools into the four angles, so the piece outlines itself: a pale line along the rims, dark points at the corners.

That is a strong graphic under a charcuterie run or a row of sashimi, where the food is already laid out in lines. The one-and-a-half-inch wall is upright rather than curved, which gives the rectangular platter a crisp shadow line on a lit buffet and keeps the wall colour separate from the floor colour.
