Height is the thing on the LY-109BU: a one-and-three-eighths-inch wall standing almost upright from a flat floor. On a dessert plate that wall works as a backdrop. Sauce mirrored on the floor picks up the blue beneath it and shifts slightly green where it thins, while a dusting of icing sugar or cocoa reads sharply against the darker glaze at the corners.
