Yanco HS-9303 Houston Melamine 5-1/2" Saucer, White and Red — Case of 48 (4 dz)

This 5-1/2" saucer is the underliner for the Houston beverage and broth pieces: Yanco cuts the well to seat the 3" coffee mug and the 4" bouillon cup, and the 4-3/4" fruit bowl sits on it too. It is an inch narrower than the 6-1/2" round plate, which is what keeps a cup-and-saucer footprint on a crowded table rather than spreading into the neighbour's space.

A saucer earns its place by catching drips and giving a spoon somewhere to sit that is not the tablecloth, and the shallow lip here does both without making the piece awkward to stack. It carries no capacity of its own. Four dozen arrive together, matched to the mug and bouillon cup packs so a service can be built in whole sets.
