Yanco HS-5044 Houston Melamine 4-3/4" Fruit Bowl - 5 oz, White and Red — Case of 48 (4 dz)
The 5 oz fruit bowl is the small open dish in Houston: 4-3/4" across, shallow enough to eat from with a spoon held flat, and sized for a portion of fruit cocktail, apple sauce, cottage cheese, a scoop of ice cream or a side of dressing. Hospital trays and school lines use this size by the hundred because it portions consistently and nests tightly.
It carries two ounces less than the bouillon cup and far less than the soup bowls, so it is never mistaken for a main dish on a tray - which is the point when a tray has to be read at a glance. The red rim band gives a white fruit bowl enough definition that it does not disappear against a white tray liner. A carton holds four dozen.
