Just under eight inches wide, this is the Glory plate for a first course or a plated sweet. It is big enough for a dressed salad or a slice of tart, and small enough that a dining room can run it alongside the ten inch dinner plate without the two being confused on a pass.

Its upright rim stands seven-eighths of an inch, slightly taller than the one on the six and a half inch bread plate, which helps keep a vinaigrette from running to the edge. Cafes also use it as a lunch plate for sandwiches and single-portion bakes. Fired in speckled white porcelain; dishwasher safe and microwave safe.
