The CO-8-W is eight and a half inches long, four and a quarter wide, and a shade over an inch deep, holding eight ounces for one cover with no transfer between browning and service.

Chinaware holds the heat the sauce was browned at, so it is still molten on arrival. The plain white glaze shows the browning. Beyond rarebit the shape takes a baked egg, a small gratin, escargots, or creamed spinach sent out alongside a steak. Thirty-six oval dishes make up a case.
