A 13-1/2 inch oval serving platter with a 9-1/8 inch beam and 1-1/4 inches of wall. An oval this long is a serving piece rather than a cover for one diner, and it is the size a kitchen reaches for when a shared course goes out to a four-top.

The deeper wall starts to matter once the platter is carrying anything with juice: roasted vegetables, braised meat, a whole grilled fish that has given up liquid under the lamp.
