Nine inches is the lunch-and-dinner round that American kitchens default to, and the BR-8 is Yanco's version of it in this pattern: a full inch of height, a wide flat well, and a rim broad enough to pick up cleanly off a shelf. It plates a protein with two sides without crowding and without leaving the sort of empty border that makes a portion look small.
