Built as a fry pan: a seven-inch round well two and three-quarter inches deep, with a handle that takes the overall length to twelve and a half inches. Food arrives at the table in the vessel it is presented in — a sizzling-style chicken dish, a baked rice, a skillet dessert — and the handle gives a server something to carry and set down by.

Depth of nearly three inches holds sauce around whatever sits in the well rather than letting it spread out. This is the smaller of the two pan servers in Black Pearl. Melamine is for presentation rather than the stove, which is the point: the pan reaches the table cool to handle and goes into the dish machine afterwards.
