An eight-by-four-and-three-quarter-inch rectangle with a one-inch rim — the small display plate in Black Pearl, intended for a two- or three-bite course: a pair of dumplings, a sashimi portion, a dessert with a sauce streak. The raised edge keeps a loose garnish from sliding off when the plate is carried at an angle, which a flat rectangle of this size will not do.
