Yanco BP-3204 Black Pearl Melamine 4-3/4" x 3-3/4" Yuanbao Bowl 5 oz, Black — Case of 48 (4 dz)

Yuanbao refers to the gold-ingot silhouette: an oval rim pinched at the ends rather than a plain circle, which is why this piece measures four and three-quarter inches one way and three and three-quarters the other. Five ounces makes it a rice, pickle or condiment bowl for a place setting, and the oval sits flush against a square plate better than a round of the same volume would.

The pinched ends also give chopsticks a corner to gather grains against. Melamine carries the detail of that rim without the casting seams ceramic shows at this scale, and matte black keeps the ingot outline legible on a dark tabletop.
