Seven inches across and three and a quarter deep, rated at 38 ounces — the large noodle bowl in Black Pearl, built for a generous ramen or udon service where the broth is the dish as much as the noodles are.

Thirty-eight ounces is close to half again the 26-ounce bowl's volume, gained from an inch of diameter and a quarter inch of height; at these proportions small changes in span move the capacity a long way. The wide mouth is deliberate for a bowl this deep, giving space for toppings to be arranged across the surface — egg, nori, scallion, chashu — instead of sinking. Melamine holds the heat in and keeps the outside handleable. Forty-eight pieces to a case, matte black, and safe through a commercial dish machine indefinitely.
